Koven – Quite Life [Alphasphere]

Alphasphere is a brand new midi controller that has been designed for electronic music. It allows you to be expressive with music through a series of tactile pressure sensitive pads. Simply load the Alphasphere with your own sounds, or connect to an existing digital audio workstation with the intuitive software – allowing you to get hands on with electronic music, changing the way you play. Max was fortunate to get his hands on a prototype of this exciting new product by award winning company nu desine, a team of musicians, engineers and developers based in Bristol. Blood Orange – Champagne Coast

In love with this song, and the video even more. Really reminds me of the work of Martha Rosler with her series of photomontages from Bringing the War Home : House Beautiful.
It is quite nice and refreshing to see an original music video.

Pretty Impressive

BrussPup – BrussPup

This is really simple but has such an awesome effect. Fill a bucket full of water and place it about 5 feet off the ground. Place a subwoofer about 1 foot lower than the bucket. Run a plastic tube from the top bucket down in front of the subwoofer. Tape the tube to the front of the speaker. Then aim the end of the tube to an empty bucket on the floor. Get the water flowing from the top bucket. Now just generate a 24 hz sine wave and set your camera to 24 fps and watch the magic happen. Basically your cameras frame rate is synced up with the rate of the vibrations of the water so it appears to be frozen or still. Now if you play a 23 hz sine wave your frame rate will be off just a little compared to the sine wave causing the water to “move backward” or so as it appears. You can play a 25 hz sine wave and cause the water to move slowly forward.

Man Vs. Booze

The 21 year old art student who features in Man Vs Booze on YouTube, has become an instant YouTube sensation after posting videos of himself completing various alcohol challenges. In his videos he has successfully drank a pint of vodka, three bottles of wine, a pint of gin, five pints of guinness and a pint of flaming sambuca, to name a few. His online following is increasing daily and is up to over 5,000 follows on his Facebook site. There is a real mixed bag of reviews on his YouTube channel, not surprisingly. As much as it is entertaining, he is believed to have already drunk nearly 200units of alcohol in just over two weeks. I am amazed he hasn’t ended up in hospital yet.
